Great Run are the organisers of a number of races in the UK branded with the word 'Great'. These events include races across a number of different distances - 5k, 10k, 10 miles, Half Marathon.. These include The Great North Run, the biggest half marathon race in the world.
They are a large company with a large number of corporate sponsors. As such they are able to consistently put on large scale events that are operated at an extremely high standard.
Their events provide a platform for many millions of pounds to be raised each year for a number of fantastic charity partners.
They previously ran a series of weekly events called 'Great Run Local'. Similar in nature to parkrun, these events offered a free weekly timed 5k race at a number of locations across the country. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic these events were cancelled in late 2020.
The company do however offer a 7/28 day 'Great Run Solo' challenge that challenges runners to continue running during the Covid-19 lockdown period.
