Hong Kong

16th February 2014

The Hong Kong Marathon was started by the Hong Kong Athletics Association with the aim of promoting athletics, and aid to aid in athletic development as well as selection for world events (such as the Olympics).

It has been run since 1997 and currently (as of 2020) holds a World Athletics Gold Label. Each year since its inception the race has developed and those changes have been documented.

Nowadays the race is a huge event attracting 70,000 participants across the 10k, half marathon, and marathon race distances offered. It has a significant prixe fund and attracts top level contenders from around the world.

The race is often times run in incredibly humid conditions and as such this is not the ideal PB course. That said, Hong Kong is a fantastic place to visit so why not try something different?
