Barcelona, Spain

11th March 2018

Starting at the base of the magic fountain of Montjuïc the Barcelona marathon provides a number of quite incredible photo opportunities.

The race has been run in one form or another since 1978 - it was previously known as Marathon Catalunya.

The race is run on a fast and flat course in fantastic weather (normally) and takes participants past a number of incredible sights including the Sagrada Familia and the Torre Glòries.

Given this the race attracts a competitive field of athletes and regularly sells out.

Barcelona as a city needs no sales pitch. Fantastic food, fantastic history, and just a generally beautiful city to visit. A fantastic destination for the football fans too.

If you are not up to a full marathon yet Barcelona also plays host to the equally well reputed Barcelona Half Marathon.
