The 2021 event is only open to Japanese runners due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nagoya, Japan

14th March 2021

This women only race organised by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations was one of the first contingent of races to be awarded a World Athletics Platinum Label.

The race (as implied by the name) is only open to women, and has been run in one form or another since 1980. That said, the Nagoya City Marathon is run on the same day (as a separate event) and welcomes runners of any gender.

Nagoya is a major Japanese port in the center of the country. It is home to a number of automotive giants including Toyota and Honda, and is generally industrialised. For that reason it has a reputation for not being the most exciting city to visit in Japan. That said, you are 30 minutes on the bullet train away from Kyoto, and not too much further away from Tokyo.

The race does however occur around the time of the Honen Festival - a festival of fertility which certainly looks interesting.
